The habits of the local community is to burn all debris and garbage. Golden Buddha Beach and Eco resort have slowly, but completely been able to educate the staff to no longer burn any materials and have become very strong in recycling including glass, plastic, aluminum and paper.. The Houses at Golden Buddha Beach Eco resort are all built out of plantation hardwood by local Thai craftsmen and follow a strict building height restrictions and only 12.5% per one rai plot.This eco resort uses biodegradable laundry detergent, dish soap and hand soap. Electricity is only provided from 6pm – 11pm. – No hot water, no air-con, no swimming pool, the ocean is the best swimming pool!
Water used for showers and tap water is pumped from shallow wells or collected rain water. This water is naturally treated using aeration. Drinking water is from local suppliers and not bottled water.

All adventure and diving is provided by Blue Guru who operate a number of education and restoration projects:

 

  • They run *PADI Project Aware*  and *Coral Reef Awareness* for divers & non-divers to raise aquatic conservation awareness & action
  • The “*Whale Shark Exploration Program* in conjunction with Golden Buddha Beach Resort. The PADI Whale Shark Awareness specialty course is included in this program to raise divers awareness and contribute to international research & conservation projects. They also currently support the Dive School’s (Blue Guru’s) programme of training 2 local Thai boys from Baan Lions village to learn to Dive. The 3 goals being:
  1. Empower the local community and open new opportunities
  2. Enrich local economy
  3. Conserve Local Environment

They are currently half way into these goals with our intention by April 2011 to have 2 fully trained local Thai dive professionals from Baan Lions.
They also support financially the Naucrates Turtle conservation project which is based in the Baan Lions village. We support this educating guests and
